PETKIT noted that while the consumer’s video shows a handheld voltage detection device responding near the fountain water, it lacks critical information such as the detector’s make or model, test mode, reference or ground connection, numerical voltage measurement, leakage-current measurement, touch-current measurement, or an applicable safety threshold. PETKIT stated that a detector response alone does not quantify the current that could flow through a person or animal and, by itself, does not establish a severe electric-shock hazard.
The manufacturer also mentioned that prior to this incident, independent electrical-safety testing of P4117 samples reported leakage-current measurements below applicable test limits, including testing following humidity conditioning. These prior results were model-level safety evidence and are not represented as testing of the individual consumer-returned unit. PETKIT is therefore independently testing the actual returned unit to determine whether the reported condition can be reproduced and whether hazardous leakage current, touch current, or an electric-shock hazard is present under the conditions tested.
