Upon opening the outer box, the consumer noted a strong mint smell emanating from the product.
Crucially, the inner plastic packaging containing the Superfloss was never opened. However, there was a chemical fluid present on the exterior of this unopened plastic packaging. The incident occurred when the consumer, after handling the packaging, inadvertently transferred the chemical fluid to their eye while wiping away a tear.
The consumer immediately irrigated their eye with 0.9% saline solution for 10 minutes, but the burning sensation persisted. A very faint and micro-printed batch legend was found on the product, reading: 6068791000 Exp 2030 02 09. A photo of this legend has been preserved. The presence of the chemical fluid on the exterior of an otherwise sealed inner package, coupled with a strong odor, suggests a potential issue with product containment or manufacturing quality.
